Big Dan had been linked with a move back to his old club Charlton with West Brom and Southampton also showing interest.
However, the defender has now signed a deal with the Hoops and is looking forward to the coming years.
After signing his new deal he spoke to the official website, saying:
“It feels good for me to know I’m going to be here next season. There was a lot of talk about me playing in the Premiership next season, but I really feel I can get there with QPR.
“I spoke to the gaffer who had the same thoughts as me. I know we can do well and if we keep working hard then we can be pushing for promotion- and that feels good.
Danny’s summer break didn’t last long after being drafted out to play for Nigeria in their World Cup Qualifying campaign. He featured in the 1-1 draw against Rwanda and was on the bench against group leaders Angola.
Speaking about his international excursions he said:
“It’s been really tiring. I’ve been out there for three and a half weeks and I’ve only just got back. I only had one day to spend with my family in that time so it’s good to be back in London.
“But it was great to be playing alongside players like Jay-Jay Okocha and there were some really experienced players there.”
Obviously Rangers manager Ian Holloway was delighted with the signing and assured fans he was looking to recruit more players before deadline day.
“He’s vital to us. My ambition as a manager has matched his as a player and we are both convinced we can go on to a higher level with Queens Park Rangers.
“Yet again, the speculation proved to be nonsense and it goes to show supporters should not believe everything they read at this time of the year. (Speaking about the speculation linking Danny with a move to the Premiership.)
“Dan always knew what was right for him.
“We are getting stronger all the time and we continue to build. I want a squad that can cope with absences and be solid in every position and hopefully I will be able to get a couple more players in before the start of the season.”
Danny has made 134 appearances for Rangers, scoring 13 times since signing for £250,000 from Charlton in January 2001.
Meanwhile Sky Sports has reported a news story first heard from QPR MAD. They have reported that Rangers are reportedly in talks with Greek defender Georgious Kryriazis after the defender (25) was flattered by the interest being shown in him.
QPR MAD will bring you the latest news as soon as we hear it.
