The Super Hoops’ purple patch finally came to an end this week with a disappointing defeat at Preston North End (Tuesday).
Before then the R’s were close to equalling a club record eight straight league victories. The winning run, dubbed "seven deadly wins" included some outstanding displays against Leicester and West Ham and coincided with the return to fitness of centre-half Danny Shittu.
The influence "Big Dan" has on the defensive side of the Rangers side is phenomenal and was all too obvious in recent weeks. Quite bizarrely, Dan missed the two recent losses at Deepdale and yesterday’s loss at Wolves.
Whether it is just pure coincidence or proof of Danny’s capabilities, Ian Holloway will be hoping he can patch up the problem before we head into a tough run of fixtures against West Ham, Leeds and Wigan.
Danny has been estimated a return to full fitness within the next fortnight.
