Ferdinand was also fined £12,000 and banned from the changing rooms and tunnel area following an incident after QPR's 2-1 home defeat to Tottenham earlier this month.
A FA statement read: "Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Les Ferdinand will serve a one-match extended touchline ban with immediate effect after he admitted an FA misconduct charge.
"It was alleged the Queens Park Rangers director of football used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards a match official in or around the tunnel area after the end of the game against Tottenham Hotspur on March 7, 2015.
"The extended ban prohibits Mr Ferdinand, who was also fined £12,000, from entering the tunnel or changing room area at any time on a match day in addition to being banned from the technical area."
QPR were denied two penalties against Tottenham, as Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris brought down Mauricio Isla, and Nabil Bentaleb appeared to block Charlie Austin's shot with his hands late on
That was one of five successive league defeats the Hoops have suffered, leaving them 19th in the Barclays Premier League standings and four points from safety
