This is a big game for us, possibly the biggest of the season, and the boys, just like the fans are ready to go. QPR might have a bigger pedigree, a bigger stadium, and bigger support, but it’s 11 v 11 on the pitch and we’ll take it to them. I’m looking forward to this, and I’m confident we’ll do well.
I’ll be up against Warren Barton, a player who’s a real gent and a real pro. He’s played at the top level and enjoyed a fantastic career, a career that many players can only dream of. Throughout his time as a pro, he’s always done the right thing, his work with the PFA and in talking racism has earned him respect within and out of the game. I played against him last season when we beat Derby 1-0, he won’t want a repeat of that result – I do!!! I’ll be out to give him a hard time he knows that I’ll be pushing the ball past him and testing his legs, I know that he’ll be reading the game and taking up the best positions. It’ll be a great contest tonight, and no matter what the result, I’ll be the first to shake his hand and ask for his shirt at 90 minutes.
Looking back to Saturday’s win, it was great to put 7 in their net, but there’s no goal difference in the cup and as I didn’t get on the score sheet, I’m not going to bang on about the excellent goals!! We’re through to the second round and looking forward to taking on non-league Telford. We’ll be favourites and we’ll be doing out bets to make sure were I the hat for the big boys.
We take the short trip to QPR with a smile on our faces and we hope you fans are enjoying it as well. Let’s hope that by ten o’clock tonight we’re still smiling.
