The Wigan manager who has steered his side from League One challengers to Championship table-toppers spoke about the recent speculation regarding Ollie losing his job earlier this season.
He said: "Ian has been there, seen it and done it. I have top respect for the man. It's ridiculous when you see him under pressure and he has shown he is a class manager.
"When you go to QPR, it's a very tight ground and it's going to be a very tough game for us."
Wigan come into the match having lost there first league match of the season last weekend at home to Plymouth (2-0).
The two sides have only met four times in their history, both coming the "old" second division.
