Rangers look set to offer star players Kevin Gallen and Martin Rowlands new improved deals.

Both players’ current contracts expire in 2005 but Rangers are keen to secure the long-term future of players who are considered vital to the future of the R’s.

Rowlands was voted Player of the Season this year and has impressed many, including Tottenham scouts who came to take a look at the 24-year old. He won his first international caps for the Republic of Ireland this week against Romania, Nigeria and Jamaica to cap a fantastic first season at Loftus Road.

Gallen has spearheaded the attack for Rangers this term with a career best of 17 goals. He also doubled up in the heart of midfield when called upon and remains the king of West London amongst R’s fans.

The revelations come as Rangers are looking to sign a number of out-of-contract players whose deals have expired this summer.

Paul Furlong, Matthew Rose, Richard Edghill and Richard Johnson are all set to put pen to paper in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile Clarke Carlisle is still considering a return North as Nottingham Forest have joined the race to sign the Blackpool-born defender on a Bosman free transfer. Iain Dowie’s Premiership bound Crystal Palace have also registered interest in the player. Rangers have offered him a new improved contract leaving it down to the player to decide his own fate.

Marc Bircham has already signed a new 3-year contract at Loftus Road this week.
