Lee Cook’s transfer from Watford to Rangers is set to be decided by a tribunal in the next few weeks and Hornets boss Ray Lewington has vowed to fight the club’s case for a fair slice of money.
Cook (21) rejected a new contract at Vicarage Road in favour of moving to Loftus Road and his boyhood heroes earlier this month.
Despite being out-of-contract at Watford the club are entitled to a compensation fee, as the player is under 24-years of age. The two club’s could not decide on a fair price so now a tribunal will set the price and Lewington is looking for a substantial fee.
He said:
"We hope the tribunal is sooner rather than later. We're not going to let him go for nothing, that's for sure.
"We're going to make sure we do the best deal for the club. I have a rough idea of what he's worth. I rate him quite highly.
"We know it's often the selling club who loses out but that doesn't matter, we'll still put what we feel is a fair valuation on him."
