OLLIE: IT'S A TOUGH START

Last updated : 24 June 2005 By Mark O' Haire
Rangers travel to Hull City for their opening fixture at the Kingston Communications Stadium (capacity 25,500) where Hull’s average fate last season was over 18,000- an impressive achievement from a side whom have gained two promotions in two seasons under manager Peter Taylor.

After hopefully spoiling there Championship party, Rangers then entertain two sides who finished above them in the table as well as beating the R’s at Loftus Road last season- Ipswich Town and Sheffield United.

And to cap an eventful and tough opening three fixtures, Rangers will most probably be the first ever visitors to Coventry City’s brand new Rioch Arena.

Holloway admitted that the fixtures could have been a little kinder to his side. He said:

“It’s a tough start and the computer could have been a little kinder to us. There will be a packed house at Hull and they will be right up for it.

“We’ll have to get them watched during their pre-season games, having not seen them before, and we know they could be a surprise package.

“Then we play two teams who finished above us in the table last season in the space of four days- two teams who both won at Loftus Road last season.”

And as for Coventry, despite ‘doing the double’ over the Sky Blues, Ollie expects another tough encounter.

“It’s the first game in a brand new stadium and they will be lifted by the excitement that comes with that.

“But we will have to go there with a focus to spoil their party and I see no reason why we can’t.”
