The home side had enjoyed the lion's share of the first half play, however, Rangers held-out to go in only a single goal down.
At the break the Rangers boss responded with positive reorganisation, and from the start of the second half his rejuvenated side wrestled the ascendancy from the Robins.
And, although Holloway was unsettled by his charges' first half lack of focus, he remained unnerved and was encouraged by their commitment to turn the game around.
"Calmness, we showed that in the second 45 minutes. But where was it in the first half. A draw - I'll take that! But where was our focus in the first half.
"I'd have changed all eleven players at half time if the referee would have let me. I felt that that the front two didn't get any service in the first half. That was nothing like us, but we turned it around in the second.
"At half time we spoke about width and where the lads should be. We found our shape again when Gareth came on and it showed. He was excellent. "
Holloway's response was swift, asserting a real commitment to graft out a result. As 45 minutes had already been lost to lack-lustre football by Rangers, he rallied his troops to start afresh. Rangers adapted their game according to where Swindon were winning the contest, with the battle being played as a game down the flanks.
"Their two wing-backs were causing us a lot of problems - they were winning far too many headers in the box.
"When we won our first header in the second half we caused them problems, and our wide midfielders worked their way into positions. I felt Rowlands and Ainsworth were the ones likely to get us a goal - and in the end Rowlands delivered.
Encouragingly for Holloway and Rangers fans, Ollie could confirm that Paul Furlong would be returning to training next week. However, despite a difficult first half, The Rangers boss was pleased with his front pairing, and will be looking forward to his strikers competing for spots in the Rangers starting line up.
"Furlong will be back at training on Monday - hopefully with a new haircut! I don't like the barnet he has at the moment, and I've told him so.
"He'll have to work hard to get back in the team. I saw a few things in the second half from the boys upfront that I really liked. They worked off their defenders well and caused them a lot of problems. But it's always good to have the option of a big man away from home."
Olly: Pleased with a point
Ian Holloway was pleased with his team's second half response, having trailed at half time to a hard working Swindon Town.
