"Onwards and upwards for the Rangers" - Holloway
Holloway said: "In the first half I thought Derby were going to score any minute.
"They played a different shape to the one we anticipated and caused us a problem. I was glad to get in at half-time at 0-0.
"But in the second half we did better. I'm proud of my boys and feel we've come a long way."
But Holloway warned against complacency ahead of Saturday's important match against struggling Rotherham.
"Anyone who thinks we can just go there and beat them doesn't know their football," he declared.
"They've just beaten Reading, have a new manager and are down there fighting for their lives."
And the Rs boss reiterated his intention to make new signings before this month's transfer deadline.
"If we're going to gallop (towards the play-off places), there'll need to be a few more selection dilemmas for the manager," he saiid.
"I've got some money to spend and the board are backing me all the way, which is nice.
"Usually in a race there's someone from the pack that comes through. I don't know if that will be us but either way, we're improving.
"We want to be better next year than we are this year. Whatever happens this season, it's onwards and upwards for the Rangers."
