The first full month of the season is now complete and so it is time for fans to have their say and vote for the player who has impressed them most so far this season. It certainly has been an interesting first nine matches, the outcomes of which has left Burnley top of the Championship.
With the effervescent Harry Redknapp at the helm, you were never going to keep QPR out of the news this season.
And with Rangers riding high at the top of the Championship, it was only to be expected that several of Harry?s shining lights would figure prominently in the voting for our September award.
Joey Barton may not be everybody?s cup of tea ? or coffee come to that ? but he has played a key role for the Hoops as they bid to bounce back to the Premier League.
Charlie Austin is also starting to make his mark as QPR appear to be going head-to-head for the title with the striker?s former club Burnley.
Sean Dyche?s men have emerged as surprise promotion contenders with Danny Ings revelling in his role as the main striker following Austin?s summer departure.
Ings and Sam Vokes have been rattling in the goals for the Clarets who claimed top spot with Tuesday?s 2-0 win at Doncaster.
Burnley?s Lancashire rivals Blackburn are making positive strides too, with the division?s leading scorer Jordan Rhodes leading the charge.
Rhodes has scored nine goals in his last seven games, and manager Gary Bowyer praised his hit man, saying: ?I don't get bored about talking about Jordan. He deserves the plaudits because of his finishing.?
Leading the way with Rhodes in the goalscoring stakes in the Championship is Huddersfield striker James Vaughan who is also one short of double figures.
Representing the defensive fraternity is Ipswich?s Aaron Cresswell who manager Mick McCarthy rates as ?the best left back in the division?. Cresswell has also been described in certain quarters as ?the Gareth Bale of the Championship?.
Who are your favourites in the second tier of English football ? vote now for your player of the month for September.
Vote now for your choice of Player of the Month in the Premier League and all three divisions of the Football League. Voting closes at midnight on Friday October 4th and remember it is a free vote and the above are just the thoughts of the football.co.uk editorial team.
