Peterborough manager Barry Fry has revealed he beat a host of teams to the signature of striker Clive Platt. Platt, whose contract with Notts County expired on Tuesday, turned down an improved 18-month deal at Meadow Lane to sign for Posh.
Sheffield Wednesday, QPR and Barnsley were all reportedly interested in Platt, and Fry told Peterborough's official website: "A lot of other teams were interested in him, but he has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal at London Road.
"He'll give us what we haven't had, a bit of presence up front. He tore us apart for Rochdale when we played there in the cup last year and I think he'll be a great addition to this football club."
Platt has revealed it was the insecurity of life at Notts County which prompted him to sign for Posh.
Platt had been on a month-to-month rolling contract at Meadow Lane but has now signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Posh.
And the 26-year-old said: "It's great my future has been secured because it was difficult on a monthly contract.
"That deal at County was changed a bit and when I heard Barry Fry was interested, I was keen to sign and sort out my future.
"When I joined Notts from Rochdale, Billy Dearden and Steve Parkin had just joined and things were looking up for the club.
"But things haven't really worked out and Billy left Meadow Lane after the game on Tuesday night," Platt told Peterborough's official website.
