QPR have moved swiftly to distance themselves from the comments of co-owner Flavio Briatore, who claims he would like to appoint former Italy coach Marcello Lippi as manager if the club are promoted. Rangers are currently top of the Championship under Neil Warnock but Briatore, who stepped down as chairman in February, said his "dream" would be to see the team in the Premier League with Lippi in charge. But a statement from the west London club read: "Following speculation in the press we would like to confirm that stories linking Marcello Lippi with Queens Park Rangers Football Club are completely unfounded. "The board of directors - including Bernie Ecclestone, Amit Bhatia and Flavio Briatore - are 100% behind Neil Warnock and will continue to be so in the future."
