No phones, no family, 6.30am starts, rock climbing, assault courses, two matches, two temporary lost players, a win and a draw. Those are the results of a successful pre-season tour to the Scottish Highlands according to Scott Rushton.
Rushton had planned a rigorous week away with the squad, in which he hoped to use too get his players into shape, increase the bond within the team and create a sense of unity. Judging by what he's said on arrival back in W12, he has no regrets and believes the trip was a great way to prepare the players for August 7th.
Aided by Warrant Officer Geoff Hancocks of RAF Kinloss they executed every detail of the tour to insure everything went well- and so it did.
Speaking to the Official Website he said:
"The whole week was spot on and I really couldn't have asked for more. We've had two good games and it's been fantastic.
"Geoff Hancocks has made my job very easy. Everything has been brilliantly organised for us in Scotland, allowing me to concentrate on the players.
"It was tough for the players, starting out at 6.30am, but everyone was up and everyone bought in to it."
Rangers face Ajax on Wednesday night with only 4,000 tickets been sold at the time of writing. The club is hoping that fans turn up on the night as the R's take on the Dutch Masters at Loftus Road (7.45pm).
