Former Luton Town striker Tony Thorpe looks set to miss his eagerly awaited return to Kenilworth Road because of injury.
Thorpe who joined controversially joined QPR last month under a barrage of critics for £50,000 sustained an ankle injury in the R’s 2-2 draw at Colchester United last Saturday.
The 29-year-old marksman looks set to miss the home game with Wycombe Wanderers this coming Saturday (3pm) and then maybe the trip to his former employees the following weekend.
Luton fans reacted angrily to Thorpe’s move to Rangers (who they see as big rivals) for such a small fee while the administrators were in charge with transfer dealings. It summed up a frustrating passage for Hatters fans since former manager Joe Kinnear left. Current manager Mike Newel now has a big job on his hands to hold onto his prized assets who remain at the club.
