The npower Championship leaders were held to a 1-1 draw at bottom club Preston on Saturday despite Heidar Helguson's early opener.
Barry Nicholson's equaliser means the gap at the top remains five points, and second-placed Nottingham Forest have a game in hand.
But Warnock was happy to pocket another point as his side edged a step closer to the top flight.
"It proves there are no easy games - look at Forest losing against Scunthorpe the other night - that's the kind of league it is," said Warnock.
"We'll keep ticking along though, that's 14 games to go now. From now on it's going to be a grind."
