New Rangers Chairman Bill Power has spoken of his pride in taking the new lead role at Loftus Road.
Power has taken over from former Chairman Nick Blackburn who stepped down from his position last week, along with Chief Executive David Davies and PLC Chairman Ross Jones. Their departures have helped pave the way for a new financial and controlling era at W12.
He admitted that his appointment came as a wonderful surprise and he is now looking forward to working with Ian Holloway, the players, supporters and other Board members, and enjoying a bright future with the Club he has supported since before he can remember. Speaking to the Official Website he said:
"The decision to appoint me as Chairman came as a total surprise. We discussed various options, but not one had included me becoming Chairman. And it didn't really hit me straightaway.
"I've supported the Club all my life. As a kid, before I even knew what football was, I looked out of my bedroom window in to the ground, and now I'm here."
Power became a director of the Club last summer, admitting that he "pestered" the existing Board in to allowing him to get involved and now he finds himself in charge, after what appeared, from the outside, to be a period of some turmoil.
Nevertheless, he was quick to reassure supporters that this was not the case at all and also underlined his admiration for the efforts of the outgoing trio - Messrs Davies, Blackburn and Jones.
He said: "People seem to think there was a lot more going on in the background and that wasn't the case. We've been discussing change for six months now.
"These guys have done marvellously for the Club and really haven't got the thanks they deserved. They probably had the worst years of QPR to go through and they got us through it."
Now thoughts turn to the future and Bill Power believes that, whilst supporters must be patient, QPR could well be heading for a golden period in the Club's history.
He said: "We are talking to various people and although we don't want to get supporters' hopes up too much, there is a serious chance that investment will come in.
"We're not going to get £10 million tomorrow but there will be investment that can help us push on."
For the time being though, Rangers first season back in the second tier of English football is the priority and Power is looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead.
He is looking forward to working closely with Ian Holloway and hopes that the Rangers Boss will be able to bring in some new players before the beginning of the season.
He said: "I've made it clear to Ollie that he's in charge. We'll give him the money and he'll spend it for us.
"It's going to be tight and although there is money there, we're asking this man to work a miracle again for us. But we're talking to some players and trying to convince them that their future is with us."
