Ian Holloway did say in an interview on TalkSport that Gino was unlikely to be a Rangers player next season, but the club have had nothing official to say on the matter despite emails pleading for the club to take the fans out of the darkness surrounding the player.
Gino made it clear he wanted to stay with the club but seems surplus to requirements despite the R’s lacking cover at full-back.
Only inexperienced youngster Matthew Hislop is a recognised left-back and Matthew Rose resorted to the position last season.
Chris Powell had been targeted by the club in the summer as a replacement for Gino but since then, the veteran left-back has began negotiations with West Ham over a new deal.
Elsewhere, Luton Town boss Mike Newell hopes his side can emulate Rangers this season.
The Hatters manager recently said “They have stayed up comfortably and competed.
“We weren’t too far away from QPR when they went up, and with the players we’ve got, I believe we might be able to do something similar this year.”
Just for the record Mike, you finished 8 places and 17 points below Rangers when we went up in what was regarded as a much tougher division than the one you’ve just won. “Not too far” suddenly becomes a bit of a joke!
QPR MAD will bring you right up-to-date with news over Gino’s future as soon as we hear it as well as breaking news from Loftus Road. Stay tuned!
