QPR 1 Peterborough United 0

With so many rumours spreading around before kick-off about the Wintons/Melzack/ Wright/Noades/Blackburn/Davies/Leach and doubtless others, it was kind of difficult to concentrate on the main reason why over 10,000 people descended on Loftus Road.

Like the next man, I'm none the wiser to the actual truth involving the next owners of QPR FC. It's got to the stage where you can't believe anything anymore, but with time running out, something concrete has surely got to happen soon, whether it be the MBO or A.N.Other.

Referring to the demo after the game, Ian Holloway said on London Live: "I really don't know what they are demonstrating about — there are people here that have learnt from the mistakes of the past and worked hard to keep the club going during the last year". He then contradicted himself slightly by saying "Things are so bad here, I brought on a young lad called Dennis Oli, who's only sixteen and a half". He's well into his nineteenth year actually, so perhaps Holloway is right after all!

Holloway also thought that the match reporter, who claimed QPR were lucky to win, got it wrong. "I don't know what game he was watching, but we deserved to win" claimed Holloway. Actually, the reporter got it right. We were lucky.

Peterborough proved their 4-1 win over us earlier in the season was no fluke with another performance of bright attacking play. Fortunately for us, we had all the breaks, including the match-winning penalty that looked a bit dubious.

It did prevent Andy Thomson with the opportunity to score his first goal in three months though. With our first choice penalty taker now being Connolly, Thomson reinstated himself in light of Connolly's absence, grabbing the ball from Richard Langley and keeping his nerve to send the ‘keeper the wrong way from the spot. Just one more goal now will see him become the first QPR player to hit 20 league goals in a season since Les Ferdinand — as long as he isn't off-loaded before Thursday's transfer deadline day, hopefully he should do it.

A fair score on the day would have been about 2-2. We've seen enough draws at Loftus Road this season though, and the win was as welcome as any other. It's just a pity it's come too late in the day for us to make an impact on the top six…
