After an uninspiring first-half , QPR rallied after the break with a quick-fire brace, courtesy of Kevin Gallen and Richard Langley, enough to secure three-points against struggling Swindon Town.
Andy King's Swindon looked the stronger side at the close of the first-half with Rangers' back line constantly under pressure. But a goal by Gallen after 50 minutes, followed by a measured free-kick from Langley six minutes later left Swindon back peddling for the rest of the match.
Gallen's goal was a result of constant Rangers pressure. The striker started the move himself threading a throughball to Matthew Rose on the edge of the penalty area. Rose's shot bounced off both posts and came out to Gallen, who blasted the ball into the top corner of the net from two yards out.
Then, just six minutes later, came Langley's early contender for goal of the season. Karl Connelly was fouled 25 yards from goal to give Rangers a free-kick. Langley stepped up and skilfully knocked the ball over the wall and watched it sail into the top corner.
From then on Swindon failed to get back into the game as Dennis Oli and Gallen maintained their attack on the visitors' goal. Andy Thomson came on to replace Oli, while King made a double substitution with Alan Young and Gareth Edds replacing Matt Hewlett and David Duke but all to no avail.
"The lads I picked today had gone out and done it," said Rangers manager Ian Holloway.
"It was tough today. It was 0-0 at half time, but the more the game went on the better we played."
