Rushden and QPR produced a thrilling match, which ended in dramatic circumstances when the home side snatched an equaliser in the 90th minute.
The match started brightly and after several chances for both sides Rushden took the lead in the 16th minute when Paul Hall crossed accurately from the right and Duane Darby stole in to score from five yards out.
On 19 minutes Hall almost increased the lead when he saw Chris Day acrobatically tip his volley over the bar.
Rangers began to dominate towards the end of the half and they equalised in the 37th minute with a tremendous goal from Gareth Ainsworth when he hit a stunning volley from 35 yards out into the top left hand corner of the net leaving Billy Turley stranded.
On 44 minutes Turley produced a magnificent save to deny Paul Furlong but his joy was short lived when Ainsworth increased the lead with a similar strike from 30 yards out. And you will go a long way to see two goals of such quality within such a short space of time.
Rangers increased the lead in the 51st minute when Furlong coolly finished after being put through by Tommy Williams.
On 57 minutes Turley who, after a superb display against Tranmere on Saturday, was having an indifferent match and he spilled Steve Palmer's shot but recovered to smother Furlong's follow-up shot.
Rushden clawed their way back into the match when they reduced the arrears in the 82nd minute as Hall eluded the Rangers' offside trap and shot home from 15 yards out.
Rushden took confidence from the goal and they stormed back to grab an equaliser in the 90th minute when the Rangers defence failed to clear a cross by David Bell and Onandi Lowe took advantage and shot home from ten yards out.
Rushden almost grabbed a winner in injury time when Lowe's effort was brilliantly saved by Day.
